Young Black & Asian (YBA) Solidarity Working Group

We invite young Black and Asian identifying people ages 18 to 25 living in Chicago (and surrounding areas) to participate. Our hope is to explore, ideate, and live out Black & Asian solidarity and coalition building. Through the Working Group, we hope to engage in InterAction’s framework of counter-narratives to deepen our understanding and commitment for our collective Black and Asian liberation.

The working group is a space for:

  • Deepening our critical thinking around racism, colonization & neo-imperialism, appropriation, and privilege within Black and Asian communities in the US & Globally
  • Leaning into the messiness of our racial landscape with compassion and vulnerability in order to heal from the structures of oppression that operate in ourselves, our families, our friend groups, and our wider communities
  • Sparking, continuing and deepening our roots in Black and Asian friendships, relationships, and partnerships in our personal and professional lives
  • Strengthening commitment to Black and Asian solidarity & coalition work in local communities
  • Ideating together a lasting community for Black and Asian accountability, solidarity & coalition building
